Time-lapse: this is how we handle the largest shipment ever

3 days, 15 trucks & 20 high cube containers

Every week trucks come and go at Lan Handling Technologies in Tilburg. However, the last days of January 2021 really top the list: in only 3 days a complete pouch handling project had to be shipped to a wet pet food manufacturer. Destination: Asia. Check out the time-lapse of this challenging logistics operation.

Pouch handling project for wet pet food

The total project consisted of 6 pouch handling systems whereby the handling of the sterilisation process was fully automated.

In this case, robots efficiently fill retort trays with 85 g doypack pouches and stack the trays. A transport area with bridge conveyors then takes care of loading and unloading of the retorts. When the pouches are sterilised, a robot transfers the pouches from a retort tray to a storage tray. After being in storage, and multiple flavours are produced, a multipack unloader simultaneously feeds all flavours continuous and balanced into a packaging machine

At Lan, we do dozens of projects for the (pet) food industry every year,

but this is the largest number of loads in one shipment ever. To be able to handle projects of this size properly, we make good use of our brand new building with state-of-the-art facilities.

This is teamwork!
"Our mechanics delivered a great performance. Especially given the fact that from the moment the materials arrived, until all modules were shipped, we only had three weeks for assembly and testing."
