During our Electrical Engineering study at Avans' s-Hertogenbosch, we opted for a major Industrial Automation.
We had no doubts about our graduation internship: we wanted to do this at Lan Handling Technologies, already known to us through, among other things, holiday work in the summer period. The most important reason? Lan’s internship assignments include all disciplines, from design to realisation and testing. So you really deliver a physical end product. Very cool to see something like this arise.
We carried out a so-called duo internship assignment in six months.
Together with two Mechanical Engineering students, we developed a new tray tilter stacker to dispose of remaining pouches, with improvements in the field of technology, operation, use and costs. It was important for Lan to update this module in order to maintain a competitive portfolio. Ultimately, we delivered a working prototype. With a significant cost reduction and simplified installation.
Remote support
From our internship supervisor to project managers and technicians; basically everyone was ready to help. But at the same time independent working was greatly stimulated. The outbreak of the corona virus took this even further. We worked from home for a longer period, our weekly progress meeting took place digitally. A kind of “remote support”. Fortunately, no delay. In short: happy that we graduated successfully. And that we were allowed to stay; we have been employed by Lan since the beginning of September!
