Your day as a Recruiter?

Yes! Your candidate Software Engineer has just called to let you know that he has accepted your job offer. What a great way to start the day!

After opening your laptop and getting coffee, you are ready for the first meeting of the day: the start-up with the HR-team. You have a busy day ahead of you with a nice combination of HR and recruitment tasks and tell the team all about it.

After the day start, you check and update the jobs-email inbox. You then log into Workable (our ATS sytem) and start screening all the candidates who have applied for various positions within Lan Handling. There are some great profiles, and you send them a link that allows them to schedule a video interview, the first step in the application process.

Wow! There is one Hardware Engineer profile that stands out. You don’t want to miss this opportunity, so you decide to call this person immediately. You have a good conversation on the phone and manage to schedule him for an initital interview with the hiring manager tomorrow morning on site, quickly and efficiently that’s what energises you.

It has been a busy morning screening CVs and scheduling candidates for interviews. It’s time for a break, it’s a beautiful day outside so yu take a walk with your colleague Eline. After lunch, you have two job interviews, you scan the profiles and make sure you know what questions to ask.

After your interviews, you log your impression of the candidate with important practical information into the system and let the hiring manager know that you would like to schedule her for the next round in the recruitment process. You checl their calendars and start coordinating follow-up interviews.

After a busy day with candidates, it’s time to focus on more HR-related tasks, such as onboarding. With so many new employees, it is important that our onboarding goes smoothly and you are fully responsible for this project. It’s a wonderful way to get creative and make sure all the practicalities are ready for all our starters.

As the day draws to a close, you have one more meeting in your diary, a recruitment update meeting with Wouter, our Operations Manager End-of-Line. You generate a grade report from Workable and together you go over the latest updates for his vacancies and the various actions you have taken to increase visibility and improve candidate inflow. It’s a good meeting and a lovely way to end the day.
