Prepared salads

Benefit from high capacity and extremely flexible automation

prepared salads

Prepared salads: busy times drive demand

Todays busy lifestyle will drive growth in the prepared salads market. When it comes to food, consumers are increasingly looking for the combination of convenience and freshness. Prepared salads fit this picture perfectly in terms of time-saving, less effort of cooking and ease of handling and storage.

Topics such as flexbility and short change-over times are becoming more important for you as a producer. The same applies for the labour shortage problem partly due to the highly cooled (and therefore less attractive) production environment. Benefit from our innovative End-of-Line automation solutions.

Highlighted: prepared salads project

Heemskerk fresh and easy supplies around 3.4 million fresh products every week to well-known supermarkets and fast-food restaurants in the Netherlands and abroad. In order to realise growth, continuity and cost savings in the long term, it was decided to use robotisation.

  • Old situation
Manual packing of salad bowls in crates and boxes.
  • New situation
Heemskerk is running this prepared salads packing line with only 1 operator, at a speed of 50 products/min.
  • How it works?
Lan Handling integrated a system for the destacking of crates and boxes, before the product carrier enters the robot cell. A highly flexible case packer takes care of the product placement. Switching between various programs is done at the touch of a button and takes only 2 minutes.
  • Payback period
    < 2 years
