What is end-of-line automation?

At the end of a food production-line the products will be packed to be distributed to supermarkets and other stores. End-of-line automation, as the name suggests, is used at the end of a production line. Sometimes the term “secondary packaging” is used for this. It’s the chain of automation solutions that will destack and unfold crates, load products in boxes, dollies or crates and take care of the stacking and palletizing.

Foldable (bale arm) crates are a great solution to reduce space when transporting or storing your crates. However, you still need to fold the crates manually. That’s why we created the “Bale arm folder”. This machine will automatically fold your bale arm crates and put them in the right stacking position.

A case packer is used within End-of-line automations to load your products carefully into crates or boxes. There are a lot of possible ways to do that. We at Lan Handling prefer to use a flexible robot arm combined with a customised gripper tool. The robot can be programmed to handle products of different sizes and weights. This ensures that your products are always handled with care, even when your packaging line is running at full speed.
